The Nordic workshop on marine spatial planning was held on 6-8 June 2007 in Copenhagen.

Workshop scope
The workshop aimed
- to provide an overview of Nordic perspectives and experiences on marine spatial planning.
- to discuss strategies, planning approaches and new mapping tools.
- to propose recommendations for better, more integrated management of the Nordic marine environment.
Workshop sessions presented and discussed evolving aspects of integrated marine management, new research findings, including GIS-applications, and Nordic case studies and practices related to habitat mapping, marine zoning, area-based management and use of marine protected areas.
The workshop also considered topics such as the integration of different marine objectives, e.g. resource use and ecosystem conservation, via marine spatial planning.

The workshop was organised jointly by the Nordic Forum on MPAs in Marine Spatial Planning, the Danish Forest and Nature Agency, the Danish Institute for Fisheries Research (now DTU Aqua) and the Danish Society for Marine Biology.
